The Trailmix competition for local food startups is getting ready to rev up for 2022. The annual pitch contest rewards one food entrepreneur with shelf space at Albertsons and $25,000 in prize money.

The annual event, which is part of Boise Entrepreneur Week, gave past winners Erth Beverage Co., Snacktivist Foods and Recipe 33 Infused Nuts a boost.

“Being part of the Trailmix competition was absolutely amazing,” Erth Beverage Co. co-owner Samantha Chaffin-Benson said. “It facilitated many priceless relationships, increased our visibility within our community, and set us up for retail success. We are incredibly grateful to have participated.” What’s a switchel? Innovative Idaho drink wins Trailmix competition for cash & Albertsons exposure

This year’s winner will get their product on the shelf at Albertsons on Broadway in Boise. If sales are good, the Boise-based grocer may expand the product to other stores in the region. The second place winner will take home a check for $5,000.

Judges will look at a slew of factors in making their decision, including innovation, market traction, taste, shelf readiness, ingredients, and more.

Contestants can apply online here by August 16th. The pitch competition will take place during Boise Entrepreneur Week, set for October 24-28.
