SHELF Village Gala will be held this weekend - the 61st event.

It will run in Shelf Hall Park on Saturday. The procession will leave at 12.15pm from Bethel Chapel and travel via Halifax Road to arrive at the gala field at around 1pm.

A spokesperson said: “This year we have some great entertainment in the arena with a 19-piece swing band on the stage, dance in the arena with Stardom and ID Academy and in the air Birds of Prey from York with a flying display.

“We also have in the parade and in the arena the Revolution Show Corps, a marching and show band from Queensbury.

“Outside the arena we have a Birds of Prey display where the public will be able to interact with the birds, handle them and have photographs taken."

There will be stalls, food, a beer tent and tea tent as well as a fairground and five-a-side football competition.

All those involved in the gala have been thanked and the spokesperson added: “Your support is greatly appreciated by ourselves and of course the recipients of our donations.

“As ever our aim is to provide a great family day out for Shelf and surrounding districts and raise funds to donate to local charities and organisations at our presentation evening held later in the year in October.”
